Overclocking Performance

On this page we are going to take the maximum stable overclock from the previous page and see what the performance advantage is over default. We are running the MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING at its out-of-box frequencies and compare this to the maximum overclock.

The maximum overclock achieved is:

Base: 1264MHz / Boost: 1403MHz / Actual: 1542MHz

Memory: 8GHz

The overclock has improved BF4 performance by 11% at the highest in-game settings with 4X MSAA. This setting was already playable on the MSI GTX 970 GAMING, with the overclock it is even better. Those low's we were getting in the mid 40's to lower 50s now mainly stay at 50 or above. With the overclock the MSI GTX 970 GAMING is 40% faster than the GTX 780 and 35% faster than the AMD R9 290.
