FSP RAIDER 750W Power Supply Review

With single GPU and CPU enthusiast desktop computer systems coming down in power, mid-level power supplies are once again becoming the sweet spot. FSP claims its new RAIDER series PSU is the "best choice in performance." We put its RAIDER 750 watt unit to the test to see if it is the best choice for you.

FSP Group is one of the few actual power supply manufacturers and can be found providing OEM services for a number of other brands at various times including OCZ, Zalman, AOpen, Antec, SilverStone, Super Talent, Sigma, and many more. This wide distribution of power supplies by FSP is not surprising given that it has been in business since 1993 and is one of the top 10 producers of power supplies in the world. FSP is also regarded as a manufacturer of basic workhorse type power supplies that "just gets the job done," although some of its previous high powered computer power supplies have been plagued by power quality issues. Previously, we have reviewed a number of FSP power supplies that have been branded by others and a few products sold under the FSP brand as well. Today we are again seeing a product directly branded by FSP with the FSP RAIDER 750W (RA750).

Does That Say "Best Choice in Performance?"

The FSP RAIDER 750W is the first ~700W power supply we have seen branded by FSP in a number of years. In fact, the only recent FSP branded unit we have reviewed was the AURUM PRO GOLD 1200W and that unit turned out to be a rather good one. Today though, the RAIDER series is not exactly occupying the same high performance flagship niche as the AURUM PRO GOLD so we aren’t truly going to expect it to match the same high flying colors of the flagship AURUM PRO GOLD. We would, however, hope to see a solid value offering out of this unit today as that is a niche that FSP has done well in previously. Before moving on, let’s see what FSP has to say about this unit:
