GALAXY GeForce GTX 660 Ti GC 3GB Overclocking Review

We've evaluated the GALAXY GeForce GTX 660 Ti 3GB video card, now it is time to overclock it to its maximum potential with XtremeTuner Plus and find out how it compares to the GTX 670 and Radeon HD 7950. We will also find out if it is best to concentrate on the GPU clock speed or its 192-bit memory speed to get the best performance gains.

GPU & Memory Overclocking Comparison

We have looked at both the memory overclocked to the extreme by itself, and the core frequency overclocked to the extreme by itself. Now let’s see what we get when pulling both together with the GALAXY GeForce GTX 660 Ti GC 3GB.

When we go to overclock both components it draws more power; more than just overclocking a single component. Due to power draw and heat demand from overclocking both parts at the same time we often see lower clock rates compared to overclocking the GPU or memory alone. On the past two pages you saw how high we got the memory by itself, and then the core by itself. Now when we combine both and overclock we do find that we have to downclock just a bit in order to get the whole card stable in every game. The results below gave us a tremendously solid system with the GALAXY GeForce GTX 660 Ti GC 3GB and allowed us to game all day and collect data.

We ended up with a GPU offset of +110, which put us at a baseclock of 1116GHz or GPU Boost of 1195MHz. The actual frequency though while gaming was running at 1298MHz, which we feel safe calling 1.3GHz. This was about 10MHz slower than it was when overclocking the GPU alone.

We had to lower the memory to an offset of +800 which set the memory to 7.6GHz, down from our previous 7.71GHz memory overclock.
