Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless 7.1 Headset Review

Corsair's newest PC USB gaming headset shares a similar appearance and feature set with some of its older siblings, but this new model features wireless connectivity. Today, we will tell you if wireless could be the way to go when you choose your next gaming headset that also does a very good job with movies and music as well.

Introduction

launched its line of PC audio products in October of 2010 with a single product, the HS1 USB Gaming headset.

In the last eighteen months, the company has expanded its audio line to include two sets of PC speakers and five more gaming headsets. This is an impressive feat to say the least.

With its newest audio product, the Vengeance® 2000 Wireless 7.1 Gaming Headset, Corsair brings a very practical feature that many PC gamers look for in a gaming headset just as much as comfort or sound quality: wireless connectivity.

Pricing

Newegg.com sells the product for $149.99 and $7.68 for ground shipping.

Amazon.com sells the headset for $149.99 as well but it offers free ground or prime shipping.

Packaging

The Vengeance 2000 comes in a red and black retail box. The front panel's display of the headset's USB receiver and the word "wireless" should tell you this is not a traditional cabled stereo or USB headset. The product's specifications and features are printed on the side and back panels in four languages.

If you have never used a wireless gaming headset like this one before, then you should know that this product has its own sound processing chipset. This fact is not implicitly listed anywhere on the packaging and is a bit of a missed opportunity on Corsair's part. The Vengeance 2000 does not require audio input from the user's onboard or dedicated sound card like many other wireless headphones and headsets do.
