Kingwin LZP-1000 1000W Power Supply Review
Kingwin does not bring a huge number of power supplies for review, but when it does bring one to our attention it is usually a very worthy competitor. Today is no different. This new 1 kilowatt computer power supply brandishes sought after modular connections along with a very efficient design that has very much impressed us.
Today we have the opportunity to have a look at a power supply being branded by KWI Technology Inc., or better known to most readers as "Kingwin." Kingwin has been in business since 1992 manufacturing mobile racks and general storage solutions. Today though, we find Kingwin branding, and in some product categories developing a number of different components and peripherals including cases, CPU coolers, liquid cooling systems, and power supplies in addition to its core business markets. Today, we will be looking at one of Kingwin’s new power supply offerings from the Lazer Platinum series (the LZP-1000) which is developed in conjunction with SuperFlower.
SuperFlower Computer Inc is a name that may not be familiar to most of our US readers, but as a company SuperFlower has been designing and producing power supplies, and chassis, since 1991. In 2006, it expanded with the establishment of a new subsidiary factory, Jing Hua Co., Ltd, now handling its increased power supply production. While SuperFlower has not been a high profile OEM in the US, some of its products can be found branded by TTGI, MadDog Media, Kingwin, and occasionally SuperFlower itself. One of the distinguishing points spearheaded by SuperFlower units was the inclusion of some of the first 140mm fans, and while normally not found as the OEM behind ultra high end brands, SuperFlower has typically made good budget oriented offerings.
Upgrading the Lazer One More Time
The Kingwin LZP-1000 is the third 1000W power supply we have seen from Kingwin and the second we have seen from its Lazer Platinum series. The first power supply we saw from their Lazer Platinum line, the Kingwin LZP-550, was also the first 80Plus Platinum rated power supply we reviewed. Since then, we have seen three other 80Plus Platinum rated units including another 1000W model. With this recent influx of 80Plus Platinum power supplies we are seeing another "arms race" starting to develop among brands with some winners and some losers. With its strong start, Kingwin seems to be poised to take a commanding lead in this race today as a brand if the LZP-1000 can perform as well as its previous 80Plus Platinum offerings. Before moving on to see if that is the case, what does Kingwin have to say about this unit?
The third entry of Lazer Platinum Series is the LZP-1000, built in with ECO Intelligent Thermal Control System. LZP-1000 will ensure your Power Supply runs quietly and smoothly. It is the top of the line Platinum Power Supply set for others to follow.
Obviously Kingwin is going to let the PSU speak for itself, which is many times not a bad thing.
Let’s move on now so we can see what we can expect when a user purchases the Kingwin LZP-1000 supply in retail in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
