Enermax NAXN 750W Power Supply Unit Review

Enermax has been a long time favorite of ours when it comes to PSUs. High quality builds that put out great power. Today we have its new NAXN 750 watt model; the first new model we have seen since Ecomaster took over the business. We are still not sure where this fits into the Enermax / Ecomaster product stack.

Enermax Technology Corporation is a company that is well known in the world of power supplies and general computing alike. Founded in 1990 Enermax has made a name for itself by providing solid performing power supplies, among other computer components, and accessories. Enermax' current lines of power supplies encompass a wide range of products targeted at various market segments including the MODU87+, PRO87+, Revolution85+, Galaxy EVO, MODU82+, PRO82+, LibertyECO, and Tomahawk series. In addition to being a retail presence with its Enermax brand power supplies, Enermax Technology Corporation appears to be one of the few real OEM designers of power supplies. Its power supplies however, have only rarely shown up under other labels including Grow Up Japan, Sapphire, and its house brand Lepa. Today we are looking at our first power supply from Enermax’s new NAXN line of power supplies with this 750 watt model (ENM750AWT). Unlike previous models we have reviewed the NAXN is not built by Enermax but rather like some of its lower end products another OEM (CWT or Sirfa typically). Today’s OEM producer of the NAXN 750W is Sirfa.

Sirfa Electronics Co., Ltd. is a name that is not that familiar to most users but they have been around since 1996 when Sirtec established Sirfa as a factory in the Sirtec group on mainland China. Recently, June 2008, Sirtec sold off their interest in Sirfa making the company independent of the Sirtec brand. As such, while we have not seen any Sirfa produced power supplies under the Sirfa brand, some of the Sirtec units of the past were most likely produced at the Sirfa facility. That makes today’s Sirfa produced unit the first that we have seen under this label and we look forward to seeing what there is to be had from this newly independent company.

An Enermax by Any Other OEM......

The Enermax NAXN is a new "low cost" product line from Enermax. Previously we have seen a few examples of lower cost platforms from Enermax (ECO80+, Lepa G700, etc) and typically these units have performed well in our testing. As such, today’s NAXN 750W has history on it’s side as well as a well respected brand in Enermax behind it (even if the OEM is not exactly one of the best we have seen over the years). Now, let’s see what Enermax has to say about this unit before we jump into testing it today:

Enermax introduces NAXN, a value series that delivers solid performance for the budget oriented system builders.

PureOC says: From a functional standpoint, the new Enermax NAXN 82+ 750W boasts excellent voltage regulation, very good efficiency, and a quiet operation.

With the retail price of $135 USD, the Enermax NAXN 82+ 750W offers a great combination of features, aesthetics, quality, versatility, and performance. If you’re a person that appreciates quality design and construction, then this 750W power supply is a great option.

It seems on this day that either the marketing department was on holiday, or it just did not have much to say about its product. Let’s move on to see the NAXN 750W in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
