Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 PSU Review

Corsair is clearly defining the market for its new "Enthusiast Series" 750 watt power supply. Now that we know who it is for, surely we know what to expect from it right? Corsair has climbed to the top with a few other brands in a short period of time, let's see if "enthusiast" means the same thing to Corsair as it does to us.

Introduction

Corsair is known in enthusiast circles as a premier supplier of high performance memory and has risen to become one of the most talked about power supply brands around. Corsair was able to establish such an amazing presence in such a short time through the use of quality OEM’s (Seasonic and CWT), rigorous standards, and excellent support. Since its entrance into the PSU field, it has established a number of lines of power supplies to address (and overlap) just about every market segment with their GS, CX, VX, TX, HX, and AX lines. Today, Corsair brings us a revision to an old standby from its TX line, the TX750 V2 (CMPSU-750TXV2) that is now produced in conjunction with Seasonic. This is a departure from the previous CWT produced TX750W.

Seasonic is one of the older companies producing consumer power supplies having been founded in 1975 and entering the PC power supply production market in 1980. During that more than 30 years as a company Seasonic has cultivated lines of power supplies that are today some of the standard bearers for efficiency and quiet computing. This focus, and its reputation for quality, has lead to a real explosion in production as Seasonic can be found providing OEM services on various model lines for Antec, Corsair, PC Power and Cooling, and of course under its own Seasonic brand.

Back in the Water After Careening

The Corsair TX750 V2 is the re-launch, or refresh, of the now long-in-the-tooth TX750W. The original TX750W was released over 3 years ago using the CWT PSH platform. However, in the intervening time the power supply market has changed considerably and the CWT PSH platform which was once so good barely registers as "mid-grade" these days. With that being the case, we have seen fewer and fewer units based on this now old design and today we see Corsair abandoning that ship as well for a new sloop. With this change of charge though, what do we have to look forward too?

The Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 power supply delivers 750W of clean, stable, continuous power, making it a great choice when you need an affordable, premium quality, and energy-efficient power supply for your high-end gaming rig or workstation. For systems with even higher power needs, there is also an 850W (Model TX850V2) version available.

Moving on let’s see what we can expect when a user purchases the Corsair TX750 V2 power supply in retail in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
