ASUS Maximus III Gene Motherboard Review
The ASUS Maximus III Gene expands not only the Republic of Gamers product line, but the lineage of "Maximus" motherboards ASUS has created under the name. Thus far every Maximus board has been nothing short of excellent and even bordering on legendary, the Maximus III Gene continues this tradition.
Gaming Benchmarks
As always, these benchmarks in no way represent real-world gameplay. They are all run at very low resolutions to try our best to remove the video card as a bottleneck. I will not hesitate to say that anyone spouting these types of framerate measurements as a true measuring tool in today’s climate is not servicing your needs or telling you the real truth.
The gaming tests below have been put together to focus on the processor power exhibited by each system. All the tests below consist of custom time demos built with stressing the CPU in mind. So much specialized coding comes into the programming now days we suggest that looking at gaming performance by using real-world gameplay is the only sure way to know what you are going to get with a specific game. Lost Planet
The Maximus III Gene ties it up for first place in this very heavily threaded benchmark.
Call of Juarez
In this test we see nearly identical results between all the systems tested. This benchmark is GPU limited and we include this set of data to show you just how quickly we can become GPU limited even at 1024x768.
Quake 4
In this test the Maximus III Gene gives up some ground to the competition, but still scores where it should giving the margin of error in this benchmark.
FarCry 2
Again the Maximus III Gene loses scores as it should.
Crysis SP Demo
And again we see the Maximus III Gene score exactly as we think it should in this gaming benchmark.
