BFG Technologies has recently gotten into the business of fully built computers called Phobos. While most of our readers may not want a computer built for them, you certainly want high quality components when you do build one. BFG Tech has recently started selling the 1kw and 1.2kw OEM computer power supplies previously reserved for Phobos owners only.
BFG Technologies is a well known graphics card supplier whose products have been a premium choice of computer gamers and hardware enthusiasts for several years. Today, however, a quick check of BFG’s website shows that the days of simply supplying high end video solutions are a thing of the past and it is spreading out into a number of areas including branding computer power supply units, or PSUs. BFG’s power supplies have to date typically been built by the Taiwanese company Topower or more distantly in the past ATNG but with the acquisition of some new talent BFG has seriously revamped the power supply business. In addition to launching a new power supply website, BFG has also stepped up to the plate with a serious enthusiast level power supply in the ES-800, great value mid range LS550/680 units, and great modular mid range units the MX550/680. Today, however, we have the opportunity to look at a power supply that is a bit off the beaten path from BFG in the LS-1200 (BFGO1200WLSPSU) and LS-1000 (BFGO1000WLSPSU) units. These two units are both built by Enhance Electronics and marketed by BFG in their Phobos fully built and serviced computer systems.
Enhance Electronics Co. Ltd. was founded over 20 years ago in 1986. While a major power supply OEM Enhance is not nearly as well known to most users as some other OEM's as their core business focus has been outside of the desktop market in areas such as servers, embedded, and telecom markets. However, their products have started to surface in the US consumer realm in the last year or so under the likes of SilverStone, Silverpower, Antec, Cooler Master, and now BFG as well as the occasional Enhance branded model.

The BFG LS-1000 and LS-1200 are OEM products normally destined for BFG’s new Phobos systems. However, they are available for the general public through Newegg as simple brown box OEM PSU’s as well. So users who have purchased a Phobos, are thinking of purchasing a Phobos, or are just looking for a 1000W to 1200W power supply maybe interested in these less commonly seen BFG products. Also, since these are OEM units, BFG provides warranty support but no marketing for them and we already know they ship in the Phobos so let’s move on and see what we get when we purchase the BFG LS-1000 and LS-1200 in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
