Kingwin Heat-pipe Direct Touch CPU Cooler
Heatpipes have been all the rage for years now. And lapping your mating surface has been all the rage for the last decade. What happens when you take a round heatpipe and make it your actual mating surface? Kingwin answers that question for us.
Kingwin RVT-12025
The RVT-12025 is the second cooler we are looking at today from Kingwin. It sports the same design as the RVT-9225 but comes in the larger 120mm form factor. Not only is the cooler itself larger but so are the heat pipes it employs for cooling duty. These puppies are of the 8mm variety up from the 6mm ones used for the 92mm version. If that wasn’t enough, Kingwin throws in a fan that pushed more air and runs quieter than the RVT-9225. With plenty of stuff to like on paper let’s see if this cooler can put its money where its mouth is.

Package & Specs
Similar box and similar information is how I would describe the packaging of the RVT-12025. This is not a bad thing mind you as the info is pertinent and the box securely protects the goods.
Dimensions: 120 (L) x 50 (W) x 159 (H) mm
Weight: 600g (w/ Fan)
Material: Aluminum fins with copper base and three 8mm heat pipes
Heat Pipes: 3 Full length
Compatibility:
- Intel LGA 775
- AMD AM2
- AMD 754
- AMD 939
- AMD 940
- AMD AM2
Fan:
- Dimensions: 120 x 120 x 25 mm
- Speed: 800 - 1500 RPM
- Air flow: 72.1 – 99.6 CFM
- Noise: 20 – 32dBA
- Connector: 4-pin with PWM control
Contents & Flatness
If it looks like I copied the image of the contents from the RVT-9225 don’t worry I didn’t. Kingwin packages each of these cooler with the same accessories since the only difference between the two is its cooling fin size.

Again we see the same mating surface profile as well, which is welcomed thing because when it comes to mating round tubes with a flat surface Kingwin seems to have done a good job. Of course we will see in our testing if that is true.

Here’s a few shots from various angles showing off the RVT-12025.
Installation & Contact
Also the same as the 92mm edition is the installation routine. This is a welcomed sight since many manufacturers fabricate some complicated designs for their larger coolers (I’m looking at you Thermaltake). Thankfully this is not the case with the RVT-12025 and it also retains its height clearance above the motherboard.
Contact is equally good here and should provide solid performance in conjunction with the larger heat pipes and fan.
