Cooler Master Real Power Pro 750w
Cooler Master is synonymous with computer cases and has been moving up in reputation when it comes to power supplies to put in those cases. Is a the Real Power Pro 750w worth your hard earned dollars? We give this PSU the HardOCP grind and torture tests.
Introduction
Today’s review comes from another company best known as a case manufacturer who has moved into the power supply branding business; Cooler Master Co. LTD. Cooler Master is a company that is well known for producing enthusiast computer cases and has been in business for almost 25 years. In addition to cases Cooler Master has product lines for CPU and GPU heatsinks, case fans, various accessories, and what we are interested in today, power supplies. Cooler Master’s entry into the power supply market has been rather mixed with some good products and some that could use improvement and today we are reviewing a mid to upper level power supply in their current standard “Real Power Pro” series. The Real Power Pro line products range in capacity from 550 watts to 1000 watts with today’s focus being on the Real Power Pro 750w (RS-750-ACAA-A1) that Cooler Master markets in conjunction with Acbel Polytech.
AcBel Polytech Inc is a power supply OEM who has never really made the radar for most consumers but they have one of the lengthier histories in the business having been founded in 1981 as API Technology Co. The company began producing power supplies in 1983, and by 1996 underwent a massive reorganization while changing names to the now familiar AcBel Polytech Inc. AcBel Polytech is most familiar to consumers through their OEM efforts with ASUS and Cooler Master power supplies but in addition to these consumer products they also offer a range of server power supplies, OEM power supplies, telco power supplies, and various other components in the field.

Keeping it Cool, Keeping it Real....
The power supply market has certainly become a much more competitive one than it has been in years past as more companies that have not previously branded power supplies have begun doing so now. In this busy field where does Cooler Master see their Real Power Pro 750 falling? And how does it separate itself from other units?
In order to satisfy more customers' demand for high-end PSU, CoolerMaster is announcing the new series of PSU-Real Power Pro to continue Real Power series' well reputation. It complies with the newest Intel standard ATX 12V V2.2 and SSI standard EPS 12V V2.91 simultaneously. In addition to the stable and clean power, the advanced features of this Power Supply include bead core protection fro PCI-e connectors, worry-free power failure detector and an over 80% efficiency rating. Real Power Pro proves to be a spectacular performer, and the full product line also provides various choices for different kinds of consumers.
The product description seems very much like that of its competitors these days as it seems everyone is targeting the "high-end" market. The product description gives all the catch phrases we would expect from such a unit including “80% efficiency,” “spectacular performer,” and so on. Interestingly though, and as part of the effort to differentiate themselves, in the product description Cooler Master specifically calls attention to a few other factors including their use of bead cores (ferrite cores or ferrite EMI filters) for filtering, and free power failure detector. While not as extensive a list of protective technologies as the Enermax Infiniti, Cooler Master seems to be talking up the protection/safety features of their product as a differentiating point.
Moving on let's see what we have to look forward to when we purchase the Cooler Master Real Power Pro 750w power supply in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
