Enermax Infiniti 720w Power Supply
A desktop PC power supply with your best interest at heart? This Enermax not only gives you high-end power but promises to supply specific attention to failure situations as well as extra cooling when your system needs it.
Introduction
Enermax Technology Corporation is a company that is well known in the world of power supplies and general computing alike. Founded in 1990 Enermax has made a name for themselves by providing solid performing power supplies, among other computer components and accessories. Enermax's current lines of power supplies encompass a wide range of products targeted at various market segments including the Liberty, Noisetaker, Infiniti, FMA II DXX, Galaxy, and Galaxy DXX series.
In addition to being a retail presence with their Enermax brand power supplies, Enermax Technology Corporation appears to be one of the few real OEM providers of power supplies. Their power supplies however, have only rarely shown up under other labels including Grow Up Japan. For the most part Enermax appears to be a factory to retail presence with their own discreet lines of power supplies including today’s Infiniti 720w.
Little Brother with Big Shoes to Fill
Previously we have looked at Enermax’s top tier power supply, the recently revised Enermax Galaxy DXX, but today we are shifting gears and we are looking at the Infiniti 720w (EIN720AWT). The Infiniti 720w is in one of the newer product lines of Enermax’s and seems to pick up where the Liberty line of power supplies left off. This would place it just below the Galaxy line in the overall scheme of offerings from Enermax. Unlike the previously reviewed Galaxy DXX the Infiniti is more closely designed to the ATX specification than the EPS/SSI. So where does this all leave the Infiniti in the product placement eyes of Enermax:
The Infiniti is in a class of its own, with the highest standard on safety and protection. The PowerGuard feature warns you of potential failure and shut down your system before any damage occur. Our CoolGuard function allows your system fans including CPU cooler to run after system is shut down to protect your wholes system against heat.
The addition of the CoolGuard feature is certainly welcome as the other incarnations of this type of technology have mostly been limited to the PSU alone and only rarely implemented due to licensing issues. In the end, the feeling a user comes away with from the product description is the Infiniti 720w is long on safety features, but is it long on performance as well?
Now that we know what Enermax expects from this power supply lets see what we have to look forward to when we purchase the Infiniti 720w in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
