Acer has chosen to use the new ATI Mobility Radeon X700 to power their new TravelMate 8100 thin performance notebook. This notebook is thin, light, sleek and packed full of features. This is the notebook we used to test the gameplay experience with the Mobility Radeon X700.

The Acer TravelMate 8100 we tested with came with a Pentium M 760 CPU. The Intel Pentium M 760 processor runs at 2.0GHz with 2MB of L2 cache and a 533MHz FSB. This notebook does use the Intel Mobile i915 Express chipset which gives us the PCI-Express x16 link for the Mobility Radeon X700 to connect to. Ours came equipped with 1GB of DDR2 533MHz SDRAM and a 100GB hard drive. The 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X700 drives the large widescreen 15.4” WSXGA+ LCD for a native 1680x1050 (16:10) resolution. The complete specifications are here.

We used the default Windows XP installation which has SP2 installed and DirectX 9.0c. We installed each game on this laptop, patched them to the latest versions and commenced our gameplay evaluation.
