BFGTech 6600 GT OC AGP & PCI-E SLI
Today we game with BFGTech’s entire GeForce 6600 GT OC lineup consisting of the 6600 GT OC AGP, 6600 GT OC PCI-Express, and SLI setup.
DOOM 3
(OpenGL)
We are using the full retail version of DOOM 3 and leaving each video card’s driver control panel to “Application Preference” for AA and AF. We set the DOOM 3 in-game quality setting and resolution that played the best on each card. We utilized the in-game DOOM 3 AA setting to change AA level.
For our manual run-through, we chose the “Enpro” level and used FRAPS to capture the framerate every second. We started our run-through from the beginning to half way through the mission. We played the game in a normal fashion, which means each run-through on each card will be a little different, but it still represents the same course through the level.

In DOOM 3, we found that there were no performance differences between the AGP and PCI-Express BFGTech GeForce 6600 GT OC video cards. They both achieved similar gameplay performance at 1280x1024 with no AA and 8XAF. You can see that at these settings they did drop below the 30FPS mark on a few occasions, but never for any prolonged amount of time. When we put in the second BFGTech GeForce 6600 GT OC PCI-Express and enabled SLI, we found that we could play at much higher settings. At 1600x1200 with 2XAA and 8XAF, two BFGTech 6600 GT OC video cards in SLI provided very smooth gameplay and a much better gaming experience overall. Furthermore, two BFGTech GeForce 6600 GT OC video cards in SLI provided a better gaming experience than a single GeForce 6800 GT.

In DOOM 3, the Radeon X700 PRO is slower than a BFGTech GeForce 6600 GT OC video card. With the X700 PRO, we found 1024x768 to be the highest playable resolution, whereas with the BFGTech GeForce 6600GT OC we were able to play at 1280x1024. With two BFGTech 6600 GT OC video cards in SLI, 1600x1200 was the highest playable resolution.
Image Quality:
There were no image quality differences between the BFGTech 6600 GT OC video cards, the GeForce 6800 GT, or the Radeon X700 PRO. The only differences were that of AA and resolution levels. The ability to run the game with 2XAA at 1600x1200 with the two BFGTech GeForce 6600 GT OC video cards in SLI definitely offers up a better image quality in-game compared to the GeForce 6800 GT.
