Shuttle XPC SN95G5
Shuttle not only sets the bar, but continually raises it with regard to Small Form Factor (SFF) systems. The SN95G5, the latest in Shuttle’s XPC line, is a prime example of their dedication in this area.
BIOS
Shuttle powers I/O on the SN95G5 using the Phoenix – AwardBIOS. The main screen offers navigation to the more advanced features as well as options to save and exit.
The Advanced Chipset Features submenu deals primarily with overclocking the CPU and AGP bus. It also offers the ability to drill down into the DRAM Configuration submenu.
The DRAM Configuration sections offers settings for the following features: Max Memclock (Mhz) [Auto, 100, 133, 166]; 1T/2T Memory Timing [Auto, 1T, 2T]; CAS# latency (Tcl) [Auto, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0]; and RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd) [Auto, 2 – 7]. Additional settings are shown in the next screen shots.
Additional settings include: Min RAS# active time (Tras) [Auto, 5 – 15] and Row precharge Time (Trp) [Auto, 2 – 6].
The CPU OverClock settings range from 200 – 280 (in MHz) and the available clocks on the AGP bus are within the 66 – 100 range. It is nice to have control over the AGP bus, but it is our suggestion to always lock the AGP bus at 66 MHz to help maintain system stability.
The Integrated Peripherals submenu gives the user control over onboard devices. The onboard IDE controllers can be enabled or disabled as well as other operational controls over this subsystem as needed. You can also control which slot to initialize first for video as well as control other devices on the PCI bus.
The Ratio/Voltage Control submenu opens up control for some of the most important settings to an enthusiast. Here, the CPU to FSB ratio can be set (controlling how the HyperTransport bus scales) and voltages for CPU, RAM, AGP, and Chipset can be manipulated.
The CPU Ratio Select can be set to Auto or a multiplier range [x4 = 800Mhz – x20 = 4000MHz] and the CPU Voltage Select can be set to Auto or 0.800 V – 1.700 V.
Additional settings include: RAM Voltage Select [Auto, 2.70 V – 2.90 V]; AGP Voltage Select [Auto, 1.60 V – 1.80 V]; and Chipset Voltage Select [Auto, 1.70 V – 1.90 V].
The PC Health Status screens are shown for your information.
