Heatsink / Floating Carrier:

The heatsink / floating carrier is a unique setup that acts as what can only be described as a floating heatsink. The clear plastic floating carrier is shaped like an inverted flying saucer. The heatsink attaches to the topside of the carrier and floats directly beneath the Jefi body and fan assembly. When installed correctly the heatsink is partially submerged underwater and the body of the Jefi "rains" the heated water over the heatsink. When the temperature of the water rises, the fan kicks in and cools the exposed portion of the heatsink which in turn cools the water.

Hose:

The Jefi comes with 60 inches of soft silicone tubing that is pre-attached to the waterblock. Silicone tubing is bar none the best hose material because of its durability, flexibility, and its resistance to kinks. Although silicone hose such as this is kink resistant compared to other materials (vinyl), small diameter silicone hose can still become kinked if the hose is bent at extreme angles or pinched. As with all hose, care must be taken when routing through your system.

Fan Speed Controller:

The Jefi comes with a small fan speed controller that attaches to the back of the case. The fan in the body of the Jefi connects to this unit and the fan speed controller plugs directly into a three pin fan header on the mainboard. There are four settings on the fan speed controller, 1 being the highest speed setting (4000rpm) and 4 being the lowest speed (2000rpm).

Hose Wrap:

The Jefi Kit includes about 4 feet of large white hose wrap to keep your tubing and fan wires looking good between the Jefi unit and your PC. The wire loom is soft and easy to work with and overall a nice addition to the kit.

Water Block Retention Devices:

Included with the kit is an Intel socket 478 retention device and an AMD K7 and K8 hold down device. Small metal tabs need to be screwed into the side of the block (covered later) with the included screws for the Intel retention mechanism to be used.

Hose Pass Through Panel:

The Jefi kit includes a small hose pass through that allows the hose to pass through an open PCI slot into your system. The panel also helps keep the hoses in place.

Manual:

GlobalWin includes a very professional color installation manual written in 5 languages (English, Japanese, German, French, Chinese). Also included with the Jefi kit is a mini-CD that contains updated information and .PDF versions of the installation manuals in all the languages listed above.

Installation:

Because the Jefi kit is a lot different than your average kit, installation may seem daunting at first, but once you have the order of installation down pat it takes less than 45 minutes total to install. Since the hoses are attached to the CPU water block, you will need to install the block into your system first.

If you have an Intel socket 478 system you will need to install the small metal tabs to the side of the waterblock first with the four included screws. You will need a small Philips head screwdriver for this as the screws are much too small for a standard sized screwdriver.

Once the tabs are installed you simply apply some of the included thermal compound to the surface of the CPU and install the waterblock making sure there is good contact between the block and the CPU. Make sure the unit is free from obstructions and is not making contact with any mainboard components and then install the clips. The clips are a little different than traditional HSF retention clips as they clip OVER the Intel heatsink bracket. Make sure there is proper clearance from any components that may be close to the clip area and then snap them into place.

AMD installation is much easier and can be done in a matter of seconds. Apply thermal compound then place the waterblock into position. Once the block is seated correctly on the CPU use the K8 (or K7) retention device and clip it over the HSF mounting lugs. Tighten the retention screw.

After the block is in place make sure you attach the fan speed controller to the back of your case and install the hose pass-through panel in an empty PCI slot. Next, run the power wire from the outside of the case through the hose hole and plug it into the mainboard. Then feed the hoses from inside the case through the holes to the outside of your case.
