Albatron FX5900PV Review
The GeForceFX 5900s are out in force. With many different variations available, each company is creating new and unique designs to get your attention. We have Albatron’s latest on the testbench today.
Software and Drivers:
The Albatron FX5900PV comes with five CD’s.
Gigi Driver CD – which contains driver version 44.03, 43.51 and 42.30 as well as WDM drivers for video capture. There is also an option to install Overclocking Tool. This isn’t an application but rather a registry file that enables the coolbits key in the registry so that you can overclock through the NVIDIA driver control panel. You can also install Acrobat Reader and DirectX 9.0.
PowerDVD CD – PowerDVD XP is included for use as your DVD player software.
Power Director – There is a CD of CyberLink’s Power Director Pro 2.5 for use as a video editor since this card supports VIVO.
Duke Nukem Manhattan Project is also included.
Game Pack CD – There is a game pack CD included with demos of Zax, AOW II, MaxPayne, Rally Trophy and BeamBreakers.

As you can see we are running the latest 45.23 driver version from NVIDIA for these tests. Image Settings was set to the “Quality” selection and AA and AF are noted in the graphs when used. The 2D speed is set to run at 300 MHz core and 850 MHz memory and when 3D kicks in the drivers bump the card up to 400 MHz core.
Test Setup:
ABIT IC7-G (i875P), Intel Pentium 4 3GHz “C” operating at 800MHz FSB, 2 X 512MB Corsair XMS PC3200LL TwinX Dual Channel DDR400, Maxtor 40GB ATA/133, Windows XP Professional SP1 with DirectX 9.0b.
