Athlon64 3400+

We pit the A64-3000+, 3200+, 3400+, AFX-51, P4 3.2GHz, P4EE 3.2GHz, and AthlonXP 3200+ head to head.

As you will see below we are using four new sets of benchmarks, all for "2004". Please click on the links to read up on what exactly the benchmarks utilize. Both Winstone and SysMark utilize some pretty impressive Content Creation applications such at 3D Studio Max and Lightwave. So these are hardly lightweight numbers.

Interestingly enough, the benchmarks in both Office and Content Creation categories seem to show totally flip flopped results looking at the AMD Vs. Intel scenario. Do keep this in mind though before anyone cries, "Foul!" AMD is now a member of Bapco, the maker of SysMark. This certainly gives the benchmark more credence in my eyes that it used to have.

Also the AthlonXP 3200+ is absent from these latest benchmark numbers as time was not there to retest for the new benchmarks.

The shoe is on the other foot with SysMark Office 2004, but not such a drastic difference.

Again...with Winstone 2004 we see AMD CPUs simply dominate the Intel CPUs across the board with even the A64 3000+ outgunning the P4EE.

SysMark 2004 Office

And again we flip flop with Intel dominating the benchmarks.

This is the first time we have published benchmarks using these programs so we are still learning the ropes with them. Our results were repeatable and we are confident they are correct. If the scores here truly interest you we advise you to dig deeper with the links above and see just what each benchmark suite truly represents as both are very diverse.
