Intel: Two Ports Are Better Than One

Intel has launched the industry's first 10GBase-T server adapter to support SR-IOV for advanced network virtualization. This adapter's energy-efficient design allows it to support two 10GbE ports. Why two ports? 1) Two ports provide redundancy - one takes over if the other fails, and 2) ports can be combined into one bigger virtual pipe, providing 20GbE of networking bandwidth. Based on the Intel® 82599 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller, the Intel® Ethernet Server Adapter X520-T2 supports connectivity over distances of up to 100 meters and includes enhancements for I/O virtualization and iSCSI. Learn more about the X520-T2.

Air New Zealand Goes High Tech

Air New Zealand has stepped things up a notch with beds, power sockets and iPod connectors on its Boeing 777s. Now that is flying in comfort! Thanks to Edward Cabarles for the linkage.

It's not just for the suit-clad first class and business class passengers either. 11 Skycouches that turn into flat beds for two will make those weeks in the air fly past quickly, with the other seats providing extra leg room and comfort. But that's not the best bit—the power sockets, iPod connectors and USB ports on each seat will blow people's minds.

Pentagon Searches for ‘Digital DNA’ to Identify Hackers

The Pentagon is searching for Digital DNA to catch hackers? Sounds like a bad plot to a crappy crime drama (Washington D: CSI).

"In other words," The Register’s Lew Page notes, "any code you write, perhaps even any document you create, might one day be traceable back to you - just as your DNA could be if found at a crime scene, and just as it used to be possible to identify radio operators even on encrypted channels by the distinctive ‘fist’ with which they operated their Morse keys. Or something like that, anyway."

Simply put, I really enjoyed working with this board. I'm not generally a huge fan of the smaller boards, but I have to say this board impressed me from start to finish. Everything worked flawlessly and easily. From the unboxing to setting up the system to OS installation were all a breeze. It was as perfect a computing experience as I can remember.

Print Media Hope for a Payday with Apple’s Tablet

It looks like print media bigwigs have their own ideas for Apple’s rumored iTablet…the ability to finally charge for content. What a great idea! roll eyes (sarcastic)

People who have seen the tablet say Apple will market it not just as a way to read news, books and other material, but also a way for companies to charge for all that content.
