Psystar Hires Jammie's Lawyers to Fight Apple

Psystar, Mac-clone maker to the stars, has just hired the same legal team that unsuccessfully defended Jammie Thomas against the RIAA. Aren’t these the lawyers that got their client smacked with a $2M judgment in a case where she was originally offered a $5k settlement?

"Psystar has always been more a Cowboy than a Hippie. Now we've changed lawyers to better reflect who we are," the company said Tuesday in a post on its Web site. "Everyone here values openness. And that's how we're going to fight Apple: in public."

Google Maps Accused of Unfair Competition in France

A French company has slapped Google in the face with a white glove and challenged them to a duel. At least that’s what I hear they do over there when they sue someone. wink

A French company is taking Google Maps to court for unfair competition, seeking 706,000 dollars in damages from the US-based Internet giant, a judicial official said Wednesday. Bottin Cartographes has lodged a complaint with the Paris commercial court against Google France and its parent company Google Inc. for providing free web mapping services to some businesses.

Should NVIDIA and AMD be worried?

An interesting discussion is going in in our forums right now, should NVIDIA and AMD be worried about the current state of PC gaming and their ability to utilize GPUs fully? We have certainly seen in a few of our latest gameplay evaluations [HERE] - [HERE] - [HERE] that even a low-end $100 video card like the Radeon HD 4770 provides a very enjoyable gameplay experience in new game releases this summer. Therefore, it begs the question, is there a need right now for next gen video cards, when today's current generation video cards are plenty, and should NVIDIA and AMD be worried about that for their upcoming DX11 cards?

Microsoft Releases Security Patch

Windows / IE users that don’t have automatic updates turned on need to hit the Windows Update button or go to the Windows Update website and get your patch on.

"These vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer," Microsoft said. It said the security patch "addresses these vulnerabilities by modifying the way that Internet Explorer handles objects in memory and table operations. "Microsoft said an attacker could exploit the vulnerability by constructing a specially crafted Web page.

Pirate Bay Co-Founder Denies MPAA Allegations

The one thing about The Pirate Bay guys that has always bothered me is the way they act like everyone else is retarded. You can literally insert "technically" into any sentence that comes out of their mouths: "We do not promote piracy….technically." "We are not the site owners…technically." "We are not continuing to operate TPB since we’ve been convicted…technically." roll eyes (sarcastic)

Peter Sunde Kolmisoppi, a Pirate Bay co-founder who has long been the service's spokesman, reacted to a lawsuit filed by the movie industry in his typically defiant way. He called it "bull****."
