The 'YouTube Is Doomed' Guy Has More to Say

As much as people might hate to admit it, this guy has more than a few valid points about the sustainability of YouTube. Agree? Disagree?

Consumers are basically unwilling to believe that anything bad could ever happen to YouTube because they've become emotionally attached to a product that they believe should continue to exist and that Google should continue to subsidize.

More On The Duke Nukem Drama

Just when you thought the whole Duke Nukem saga couldn’t get any weirder, court records reveal allegations of lies, deception and even hidden off shore accounts. It just gets better and better.

Perhaps most shockingly, Take-Two claims that "upon information and belief, [3D Realms/Apogee Ltd.] has title to a substantial amount of funds deposited in an off-shore account, which Take-Two believes Apogee can use to fund its outstanding obligations." Take-Two further notes that, in the event of "any future development of the Console Versions of DNF," 3D Realms and Apogee are "required to cooperate"--suggesting that there may still be a chance of Duke Nukem Forever, in some form, hitting store shelves

Intel's New Brand Structure Explained

Intel spokesman Bill Calder has laid out the company’s new brand structure in this announcement, explaining what consumers can expect from Intel as they move forward. While most of you know this already, Calder says that the new Core i3 is an entry level part, Core i5 is a mid-level part and the Core i7 is its high-end part. Hit the link above for the complete rundown.

We are focusing our strategy around a primary 'hero' client brand which is Intel® Core™. Today the Intel Core brand has a mind boggling array of derivatives (such as Core™2 Duo and Core 2 Quad, etc). Over time those will go away and in its place will be a simplified family of Core processors spanning multiple levels: Intel® Core™ i3 processor, Intel® Core™ i5 processor, and Intel® Core™ i7 processors. Core i3 and Core i5 are new modifiers and join the previously announced Intel Core i7 to round out the family structure. It is important to note that these are not brands but modifiers to the Intel Core brand that signal different features and benefits. For example, upcoming processors such as Lynnfield (desktop) will carry the Intel Core brand, but will be available as either Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 depending upon the feature set and capability. Clarksfield (mobile) will have the Intel Core i7 name.

Facebook and Divorce: Airing the Dirty Laundry

If you thought social networking sites were only screwing things up for slackers, hackers and criminals, you’d better think again! Lawyers are having a field day with clients that are in the middle of a divorce and use Twitter, MySpace and/or Facebook.

Lawyers, however, love these sites, which can be evidentiary gold mines. Did your husband's new girlfriend Twitter about getting a piece of jewelry? The court might regard that as marital assets being disbursed to a third party. Did your wife tell the court she's incapable of getting a job? Then your lawyer should ask why she's pursuing job interviews through LinkedIn.

Microsoft's Bing Has a Second Good Week

According to new market share research numbers, Microsoft’s new search engine is having another good week. It is still too early to tell how well Bing will do but things are looking pretty good so far.

The search engine is up about 3 percentage points from where Microsoft was at pre-Bing in terms of both number of searchers and total query share. That represents another nearly 1 percentage point of share gain in both categories compared to its first week.

30% Staff Cut From MySpace

It seems that MySpace isn’t doing so well lately, the company is cutting 30% of its workforce in the United States. No word on how many jobs will be cut overseas.

The cuts will leave the social-networking site with about 1,000 employees in the U.S. MySpace declined to say whether it is also cutting back its international operations, in which the company has invested heavily in recent years. Facebook says it employs more than 850 people world-wide.
