DigiTimes is following up the news yesterday on Intel’s Bearlake Chipsets for desktops with a bit more information on the subject from CeBIT 2007.
Part 1 of this article on March 15 gave details of Intel's new P35 chipset for mainstream motherboards which launched at CeBIT 2007. Today, in Part 2, the other chipsets in the Bearlake family will be covered, including a high-end version which introduces support for PCI Express 2.0 and integrated graphics processor (IGP) designs.
PCWorld is reporing on Intel’s efforts to reduce the size and power consumption of its mobile processors. By 2008, Intel says it will have processors that are 85% smaller and consume a mere 10% of the power that processors in 2006 did.
Intel plans to further reduce the size and power consumption of its mobile microprocessors over the next year or so, paving the way for computers that are smaller and consume substantially less power, a company executive said Thursday. Since last year, Intel has reduced the size of its chips by 75 percent, while reducing power consumption by 50 percent.
According to DigiTimes, Intel plans to kick off CeBIT 2007 with its Bearlake family of chipsets. The new series introduces a 1333MHz fsb, support for DDR3 memory and are designed to support Intel's upcoming 45nm processors.
The main chipset on show is known as the P35 and is to be positioned as the successor to Intel's current 965 Express series for mainstream desktops, according to sources. Motherboards based on the P35 will be able to support FSB speeds up to 1333MHz which will be required for several of the CPUs Intel is planning to launch in the second half of the year.
