Looks like most of us here at Tech ARP are in a mood for some myth busting, after getting our chops busted by all manner of public misconceptions on technology. So we decided that enough is enough and I was given the task of putting my fat foot down and drawing the line. Some of these old wives tales have to be shot in the head, decapitated and then cremated and have their ashes scattered across all creation!

There is another round in the ongoing saga of Jack Thompson and Take Two, makers of popular games such as the GTA series, and in this case Bully. There has been a restraining order filed that attempts to bar the sale of the game to minors. The motion is scheduled to be heard on October 11th, so stay tuned, we’ll keep you up to date.
The suit filed in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County, Florida requests a temporary restraining order against the sale of Bully, a controversial new title from Rockstar Games (distributed by Take-Two) where the player controls a schoolyard bully. The mere announcement of the title had Thompson up in arms.

Intel seems committed to a very regular cycle of core shrinks and introductions. Hewlett-Packard has announced that is has bought Voodoo PC, following an industry trend of big PC makers buying small companies that specialize in gaming PCs.
Hewlett-Packard Co. said Thursday it has agreed to buy high-end gaming PC maker Voodoo Computers Inc., giving the computer and printer company access to an elite group of hardcore hobbyists willing to shell out several thousand dollars for turbocharged customizable machines.
In what seems to be a never ending stream of recalls, Toshiba has recalled 830,000 Sony batteries while Dell has increased its own recall of Sony batteries from 4.1 million to 4.2 million.
Sony's battery problems deepened on Friday after Toshiba joined the list of PC makers recalling its batteries including Dell, Apple Computer and Lenovo Group. This is the latest in a series of setbacks that have shaken consumer and investor confidence in Sony's technological competitiveness.

Lenovo Group Ltd. and IBM are recalling more than half a million notebook computer batteries made by Sony Corp. after a computer caught fire at the Los Angeles International Airport, Lenovo and U.S. safety officials said on Thursday. Sony separately initiated a global replacement program for lithium-ion batteries it made for notebook PC companies, saying short circuits could occur on rare occasions when tiny metal particles come in contact with other parts of the batteries.
